Buddy is a mobile app concept to fight student loneliness. Born from a shared observation across the team: FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) affects the majority of students. 62% of 18-24 year olds say they feel lonely.

Buddy brings users together based on their interests, to find a +1 for a concert, a movie, a hike. Your buddy when no one else is free.

Conclusion

Buddy is my first complete branding and business project as CTO. From brand strategy to business model, through communication plan and UX, I touched every dimension of a product launch.

What struck me most: the power of a shared insight. The whole team experienced FOMO. We didn't need to look for the problem, it was right there. The rest was discipline: define the problem, build the solution, make it desirable, make it viable.

What I take away: a good concept isn't enough. You need branding that creates desire, a communication plan that reaches people where they are, and a business model that holds up. That's the triptych Buddy taught me to assemble.
